El Dorado Hills
Citizens Alliance
Introducing the
El Dorado Hills
Citizens Alliance
We are...
an organization of El Dorado Hills citizens, organized under
California law as a nonprofit public benefit corporation. Under federal
law we are a civic league. The Citizens Alliance was founded in 2006.
Our Vision...
is for El Dorado
Hills to become a premier California
community wherein our roads are free flowing and well maintained,
infrastructure improvements precede growth, law enforcement services
are effective and timely, and the quality of life of its residents is
considered paramount.
Our Mission...
is
to help EDH citizens claim their right to become to best community
in El Dorado County by:
- Educating
the residents about the services it deserves and needs based on its
size and tax contributions to El Dorado County, and indicating shortfalls,
- Working with other EDH organizations on complementary goals,
- Attending meetings of various government groups and
commissions to represent the needs of El Dorado Hills,
- Fielding
or endorsing candidates for commissions and county offices who will
represent the needs and interests of El Dorado Hills, and
- Being a positive force to enlist citizen support and
enthusiasm for a vision of El Dorado Hills as it could be.
How we operate...
- Most of our activities are communications on an informal basis: Person-to-person, by email, and in meetings.
- We conduct meetings open to the public about once every one to
two months at the
El Dorado Hills Library, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00. These meetings usually
bring in speakers or groups to discuss particular issues or
areas of interest in EDH public affairs. The most widely distributed
announcements of these meetings are published in local newspapers.
- We send news and announcements to our email list, usually at least once per month.
- A small core group of members, inclding our board of directors,
meets periodically and corresponds frequently by email. Many people in
this group attend various meetings of local agencies and
nongovernmental organizations. Some in this core group hold positions
of responsibility in various local agencies and organizations.
- Our directors have authority to represent the Citizens Alliance.
This includes expressing opinions and advocacy on behalf of the
Alliance, usually in meetings of public agencies. At times our advocacy
is announced publicly, usually through submissions to the press by the
president of our board of directors.
- Some of our most important roles are the least formally
organized. These are largely communications, forming links between
separate local agencies, and between the general public and local
agencies. This can be thought of as a human equivalent of the World
Wide Web.
- One communication medium that has emerged as an effective tool to
reach the public is letters to the editor in local newspapers. These
serve as a means for Alliance-supported advocacy on local issues and
reach far more of the public than all other means of
cummunication. When we receive comments from the public they usually
follow from these letters-to-editor submissions. Such comments so far
have generally been to affirm our positions on issues and to urge us to
press further for correspondingly appropriate action in local
government.

the Citizens Alliance email distribution list for Public Members and interested parties now,
before the web-based registration is ready for use..
We treat all email addresses as confidential. All email broadcasts
send their message individually to each address on our list through a

list is protected from public access.
