Issue Summary Recommendations, questions, and notes
Traffic Patrol EDH needs traffic patrol, has nearly none. State law requires that only the CHP has full authority for traffic enforcement in unincorporated areas. Seek a change in state law to grant full authority to the El Dorado County Sheriffs office for traffic patrol in EDH.
General Law Enforcement The 2005 CFA for EDH incorporation found that we have about 1/3 of Folsom's level of law enforcement. Elk Grove's recent growth has tripled its rate of violent crime. We anticipate a rising level of need for Sheriff's service. Proactively increase level of Sheriff's service based on study of needs in similarly sized cities.
Road Maintenance Our streets and roads are degenerating. Maintenance is overdue for an increasing proportion of EDH streets and roads, many are reaching poor to failed condition. How can we fund maintenance adequately?
Traffic Road system capacity expansion is in a high stakes race with the pace of development in El Dorado Hills. The DOT Foothill Division is very adept at engineering, higher level planning needs additional involvement. Augment road network planning in the General Plan.
