This is a combination of news from the past week and a test of a new email list for wide distribution of messages through the edhca.net web server. The about edhca web page now has a simple one-button form to initiate an email request fhat anyone can use from the web to request that their email address be added to this list.

Summary news for this week

Public safety:
In an email exchange Sheriff Jeff Neves indicated that the Sheriff's Department is working on an initiative for working in partnership with the CHP on traffic safety and increasing Sheriff's Department staffing.

CHP patrol in Waterford is expected to start in the first week of August.

Traffic infrastructure, July 19,2006:
EDHCA attended the quarterly meeting of the El Dorado/City of Folsom Joint Powers Authority
Meeting Notes are mainly status updates on joint/regional road projects. A notable point is that Folsom's ability to proceed with the Empire Ranch interchange depends on three fairly substantial projects in the EDH area.

Notes from this meeting are also being forwarded in a separate email message.

Web site:
The about_edhcapage now has a button for web visitors to submit an email request to be added to the "all members" mailing list, which includes Public Members. Received submissions will be checked manually to confirm that the submitter resides in EDH or is appropriate for ex-officio membership. The mechanism for using an email request is temporary and will be replaced later by a member registration form.
