Charting a course for 2007

Empire Ranch Road Interchange, an important junction in the EDH/Folsom road network:

The City of Folsom is in its public review phase for the Draft EIR and Environmental Analysis documents, the deadline for public comment is January 22nd.  This interchange will be important for EDH traffic. The full set of documents is available here (or click on the link in the title of this news item)

Marble Valley annexed:

In December most of Marble Valley was annexed to El Dorado Hills. More precisely, 2,599 acres of land in Marble Valley were annexed into the El Dorado Hills Community Services District, the El Dorado Hills County Water District (EDH Fire Department), and to the El Dorado Irrigation District.

Developments currently planned in Marble Valley include the Marble Valley Regional Center for the Arts and 398 homes on approximately 264 acres. Unconfirmed reports have been circulating that the developer, Parker Development, is considering application for additional future development of up to 2,000 additional homes in Marble Valley.

Golf course closing:

El Dorado Hills' original public golf course is scheduled to close on January 15th. This course was opened in 1964, very nearly at the birth of EDH, but it is reported to have been operating at a deficit since 1999. When closure was considered a few years ago we saw a strong expression of community support for keeping the course open, but it looks less likely now that public opinion alone could save the course.

With the Serrano course being private, many golfers will now need to go to Folsom or Cameron Park. And how will the closed golf course's land be used in the future? There's a lot TBD -- To Be Determined.
