Special Board of Supervisors meeting on transportation issues
Citizens Alliance thanks go to District 1
Supervisor John Knight for initiating a very rare meeting of the Board
of Supervisors in El Dorado Hills to consider two transportation issues
of compelling importance to EDH. These are:
- Silva Valley Interchange with US 50
- Capital Southeast Connector
The
Silva Valley Interchange project is essential to increase capacity of
the EDH road network for access to and from US 50 This is especially
important for rising traffic levels in the Town Center area and on
Silva Valley Parkway.
The Capital Southeast Connector is a
long-term project to develop a route for regional traffic, currently
planned to have end points in El Dorado Hills and in Elk Grove. Choice
of route at the El Dorado Hills end is critical to ability to maintain
adequate traffic flow in the future for our Town Center and Business
Park areas, as well as in several residential areas south of US 50.
EDCTC Citizens Advisory Committee Town Hall meetingAssembly
member Alyson Huber and the
El Dorado County Transportation Commission (EDCTC) are cooperatively
staging a series of 6 Town Hall meetings in a public outreach
effort directed toward determining how best to provide fair
representation to all parts of the County. The core question is
membership on the El Dorado County Transportation Commission, whose
voting membership currently consists of three members appointed by the
County Board of Supervisors and three more appointed by the City of
Placerville.
This
composition of EDCTC's board dates from 1971, when El Dorado Hills was
basically a community in its infancy. Since then we have grown to
become county's largest actual city, referring to "city" as a center of
population and economic activity.
The Citizens Alliance supports
Alyson Huber's incentive to update state law, to refine makeup of the
transportation commission in a way more appropriate to our times and
our needs. This meeting is our best opportunity to communicate
our needs as part of the process that should ultimately produce
specific legislation.
Anyone who is unable to attend the
Town Hall meeting in El Dorado Hills can still participate at two
meetings in other communities:
